Can the Elect Receive the Mark of the Beast?

I. What is the mark of the beast?

1. I don't know.

2. But I will tell you how you can be sure to not receive it. Keep listening.

II. Have you ever feared that you might receive the mark of beast and end up going to hell?

1. Rev 14:9 - And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

2. Rev 14:10 - The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

III. Essential fact: the elect are eternally saved and secure and are in no danger of going to hell.

1. Joh 10:27 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

2. Joh 10:28 - And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

3. Joh 10:29 - My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

4. Psa 37:28 - For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

IV. The elect will have victory over the beast, his image, and his mark.

1. Rev 15:2 - And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

2. Rev 20:4 - And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

V. The elect will not receive the mark of the beast.

1. The "all" who receive the mark are a qualified "all".

A. Rev 13:16 - And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

B. Rev 20:4 - ...I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

C. The "all" are all kinds of people: small and great, rich and poor, free and bond.

D. The Bible often uses "all" in a qualified sense.

i. Mat 10:22 - And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

ii. Mar 5:20 - And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

iii. Luk 3:15 - And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

2. The elect will not receive the mark of the beast.

A. Those that receive the mark of the beast go to the lake of fire (Rev 14:9-10).

B. The elect are eternally saved and secure, having their names written in the book of life, and will not go to the lake of fire (Joh 10:28-29; Rev 20:15 c/w Rev 17:8 c/w Eph 1:4 c/w Heb 12:23 c/w Luk 10:20).

C. Therefore, the elect will not receive the mark of the beast.

VI. How then can we be sure that we are the elect and will not receive the mark of the beast?

1. The mark of the beast is always associated with worship. Those who receive the mark of the beast worship the beast and his image.

A. Rev 14:9 - ...If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

B. Rev 14:11 - ...who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

C. Rev 16:2 - ...upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.

D. Rev 19:20 - ...which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image....

E. Rev 20:4 - ...which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands;...

2. Those who worship the beast do not have their names written in the book of life, and are therefore not the elect.

A. Rev 13:8 - And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

3. If you want to be sure that you are one of the elect who will not receive the mark of the beast, then be sure to worship God alone in Spirit and in Truth in His true church and you will not have to worry about receiving the mark of the beast, whatever it is.

A. Mat 4:10 - Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

B. Joh 4:23 - But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

C. Joh 4:24 - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

D. Act 24:14 - But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
